@AU_WBasketball Travels to Third-Seeded UCLA for NCAA Tournament

Team reacts to the Selection Show seeding. 14-seeded AU will face 3-seed UCLA on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The American University women's basketball team (26-6) received a 14-seed and will visit third-seeded UCLA (24-7) in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. This is the program's second NCAA Tournament berth in four years.

The game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. ET tip-off on Saturday, March 17, and will be broadcast on ESPN2. The pairings were announced by the NCAA in a selection show on Monday evening.

Sixth-seeded Iowa (24-7) will face 11-seed Creighton (18-12) at 6 p.m. ET in the other first-round game on Saturday at UCLA. The winners of the first-round games will play on Monday, March 19.

The Eagles have had a historic 2017-18 season, culminating in the program's second Patriot League Tournament title in four years. Led by the Patriot League Coach of the Year Megan Gebbia and Patriot League Player of the Year, senior Emily Kinneston, AU earned a new program record with its 26 wins and went undefeated at home for the first time since the 1970s at 16-0.

UCLA is led by Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, senior guard Jordin Canada. The Bruins were knocked out of the semifinal round of the Pac-12 Tournament by Oregon on Saturday, 65-62. They hold a 24-7 overall record, 14-4 in the Pac-12, and are 13-2 at home in Pauley Pavilion.

1.) Eagles Club members who have made lifetime gifts to Athletics in excess of $10,000 and are current Eagles Club members
2.) Eagles Club members who donate $2,500 or more to the athletics annual fund
3.) Eagles Club members who donated $500 or more to the athletics annual fund
4.) 2017-18 Eagles Club Members
5.) American University Alumni/Faculty/Staff
6.) American University Fans/General Public

Note: Donors to the women's basketball program and basketball season ticket holders will receive the highest priority in each category above.
