CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The American University women's basketball team placed 13 Eagles on the 2017 Patriot League Spring Honor Roll, as released by the league office on Tuesday.
To be eligible for the Spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester and participated in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
The 13 Eagles recognized makes for a new program record, beating out the 10-players honored in both 2012 and 2016.
Senior Lauren Crisler, who earned the Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar of the Year in March, was one of six student-athletes in the league to have appeared on the Academic Honor Roll four times. Fellow-senior Jordan Light earned her third honor roll selection along with juniors Kate Bond, Emily Kinneston and Maria Liddane.
Two-time honorees include sophomore Cecily Carl, junior Briana DuBose and sophomore Elina Koskimies while freshman TaeKenya Cleveland, junior Asha Henley, freshman Katie Marenyi, sophomore Michaela Nieuwenhuizen, and freshman Payton Turner all made their PL Academic Honor Roll debuts.
A total of 84 student-athletes earned the distinction with Loyola Maryland leading the league with 15 honorees followed by AU and Lehigh with 13, then Bucknell (11), Lafayette (10), Colgate (six), Boston University (five), Army West Point (four), Holy Cross (four), and Navy (four).
