WASHINGTON – Arron Zimmerman scored nine of her team-high 17 points during a decisive start to the second half that lifted top-seeded American University to a 79-56 victory over Lafayette Friday in a Patriot League women's quarterfinal game played at Bender Arena.

The victory pushed the Eagles to 22-8 and into a semifinal matchup Monday with fifth-seeded Navy. The Midshipmen won 60-49 at Bucknell in another PL women's quarterfinal. AU and Navy will play at 7 p.m. Monday in Bender Arena.
Eighth-seeded Lafayette ended its season at 14-17.
Michelle Holmes added 14 points and five rebounds, with Shaquilla Curtis finishing with 10 points. Jen Dumiak had five points, five rebounds and nine assists for the Eagles, who had all 11 players score in the game.
Lauren Crisler added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench for AU.
Jamie O'Hare led the Leopards with 19 points, while Linnel Macklin and Emily Homan each had a dozen. Ashley Lutz had 13 rebounds for the Leopards, who were out-boarded 43-35 by the Eagles.
American led 34-29 at halftime, but opened the second half with a 19-2 run. The rally lasted 6:19 and pushed the hosts to a 54-31 edge. Lafayette got no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
