CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – American University senior guard Jen Dumiak has been selected as the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. The honor is Dumiak's fifth of the season and sixth of her career.
Additionally, Dumiak was chosen as the AU GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
Dumiak averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists in a pair of Patriot League victories over Navy and Bucknell. She also shot 62.5 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.
Dumiak carried the Eagles to a 41-29 victory over Navy on Wednesday, scoring 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and an 8-of-8 performance at the free throw line. With the win, American secured the regular-season Patriot League title, guaranteeing its second straight postseason appearance.
Meanwhile, Dumiak posted her seventh double-double of the season in a 65-55 win over Bucknell, finishing with a team-leading 16 points and 11 rebounds.
With the regular season complete, the Eagles will now prepare to host a Patriot League quarterfinal on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. American will take on the winner of the first-round match-up between eighth-seed Lafayette and ninth-seed Loyola Maryland.
