Dobbs, Dumiak Honored on Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team


American University women’s basketball student-athletes Alexis Dobbs and Jen Dumiak were named to the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced Monday.

Dobbs is a three-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three-time Academic All-Patriot League Team and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection. She was a 2013 Senior CLASS Award nominee and carries a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a public health major and biology minor. The Berea, Ohio native also led the Eagles on the court during her career at American. She ranks in the top 10 in program history in scoring (7th – 1,288), assists (2nd – 420), steals (9th – 211), three-point field goal percentage (4th - .372), three-point field goals made (1st – 222), free throw percentage (7th - .792), games played (3rd - 122) and games started (1st - 117). Dobbs is a four-time All-Patriot League selection, earning First Team honors this season after leading the team with a career-best 13.4 points per game and 4.3 assists per game while finishing third with 4.8 rebounds per game.

Dumiak owns a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a mathematics and economics major. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honoree and 2013 Academic All-Patriot League Team selection. Dumiak earned her first career All-Patriot League honor this season, being recognized on the Third Team. The Carlsbad, Calif. native averaged 10.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 4.2 apg as a starter for the Eagles and ranks 10th in career assists (272) and eighth in career free throw percentage (.789).

Dobbs and Dumiak are American’s third and fourth Scholar-Athlete Team honorees. Michelle Kirk ’11 was honored in 2010 and Kathryn Costenbader ’03 was recognized in 2003.
