The American University women's basketball team will look to open its 2013-14 campaign 5-0 in Bender Arena when it hosts Mount St. Mary's on Monday, December 16 at 7 p.m. 

American (6-2) picked up its third straight win and fourth at home with a 47-41 victory over Drexel on Sunday afternoon. Alexis Dobbs was the lone player to reach double-figures in the game with 17 points and Sarah Kiely added 10 rebounds as the Eagles held a 38-29 edge on the glass. Jen Dumiak added four assists in the win. American finished the afternoon shooting 40.5 percent from the floor.

Dobbs is averaging a team-best 14.9 ppg this season, shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 43.6 percent from three-point range. The senior also leads the Eagles with 5.8 apg. Dumiak is second on the team with 9.6 ppg on the year. Kiely is registering a career-best 7.8 rpg this season. 

Four double-digit scorers led Mount St. Mary's (3-6) to a 65-59 win over Loyola (Md.) last Sunday in Emmitsburg, Md. Jacqueline Brewer led the team with 15 points while Sydney Henderson posted 14 points, Kayla Grossett notched 11 and Ashley Christie finished with 10. Grossett also posted a team-best eight rebounds as the Mount held a 37-33 edge in boards. Mount St. Mary's shot 42.6 percent from the floor and 26.1 percent from beyond the arc in the win.

Henderson leads the team with 18.1 ppg on 41.6 percent shooting from the field, also averaging 4.8 rpg and 2.0 apg on the year. Grossett is averaging a team-best 5.4 rpg while adding 5.4 ppg and 1.0 apg. Christie has posted a team-high 3.0 apg and 1.8 spg with 7.0 ppg and 2.8 rpg. 

American owns a 9-4 lead in the all-time series against the Mount with a 5-1 advantage in Bender Arena. The Eagles have won each of the last six meetings between the two squads. Last season Ti'Asia McGeorge hit a three with 13.6 seconds left to knot it up and Dobbs registered a steal and laid it in with 0.2 seconds on the clock to lift American to a 48-46 win in Emmitsburg, Md. McGeorge finished with a team-best 11 points and Dobbs recorded seven rebounds and four assists.
