Women’s Basketball Earns Eight Academic Honor Roll Selections

Eight members of the American University women’s basketball team have garnered Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition, the conference announced Tuesday.

Senior Ashley Yencho (3.900, business administration) completes her career at American with her fourth straight Academic Honor Roll selection. With this recognition, she becomes the first student-athlete in program history to accomplish the feat since the Eagles joined the Patriot League in 2001-02.

Classmate Liz Leer (3.333, public communication) earned her honor for the third time in her career. Recently-named Director of Basketball Operations, Leer was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team as well as Academic All-Patriot League earlier this year.

Junior Ebony Edwards (3.675, elementary education) also made the Honor Roll for the third time in three years and redshirt freshman Geleisa George (3.257, psychology) for the second straight year.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League’s championship sports.
