Corkery Participates in WBCA’s Center for Coaching Excellence

Head Women’s Basketball Coach Matt Corkery recently participated in the inaugural Center for Coaching Excellence, which was hosted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) at Columbia University. Corkery was one of 28 women’s basketball coaches from around the country to receive the invitation to the event, which included speakers, panels and discussions aimed at leadership training.

"The WBCA Center for Coaching Excellence conducted in partnership with Columbia University is the ultimate leadership and ethics program for coaches and is the first of its kind for women’s basketball," remarked WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "The inaugural session was an overwhelming success and we are excited by its potential.  For Matt to be chosen as a member of the inaugural class speaks volumes for his reputation as a Division I head coach.  Matt also serves as a WBCA conference captain for the Patriot League and was recommended for the program through their office."

In his three completed seasons as head coach at American, Corkery has registered a 63-31 record, including a 32-10 mark in conference play. He has guided the Eagles to two Patriot League regular season titles and two appearances in the conference championship game.
