The results are in and the fans have voted the Eagles' 69-64 overtime win at Lehigh to reach the Patriot League Championship Game as the top moments from the 2010-11 women's basketball season. Votes were collected via the American University Women's Basketball Facebook Fan Page giving fans the opportunity to voice their opinion about their favorite moments and storylines from this past season.
1. Eagles Pull Out Come-From-Behind OT Thriller at Lehigh in PL Semis
Alexis Dobbs made two clutch free throws with one second remaining in regulation and Liz Leer hit two key three-pointers in overtime to push American to a gutsy 69-64 victory over Lehigh in the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals in Bethlehem, Pa. The Eagles overcame a 16-point first-half deficit to force the overtime session and earn their second straight trip to the Patriot League Championship Game.
2. American Rolls Past Lafayette, 82-47, For 20th Win, Share of PL Regular Season Crown
The Eagles closed out the regular season in style on Feb. 26 with a convincing 82-47 victory over Lafayette to earn a share of their third Patriot League regular season championship in the last four years. The victory also gave the Eagles their 20th win on the season, marking the second straight year and fifth time in program history they have reached the plateau.
3. Leer and Ryan Reach Milestones in Win at Holy Cross
American overcame a 10-point first-half deficit on Feb. 19 to record a 73-62 victory at Holy Cross. Liz Leer and Nicole Ryan both reached milestones in the game involving the number 200. For Leer, she registered her program-record 200th career block during the first half. And on AU's opening possession of the second half, a Ryan three-pointer was her 200th made trey of her career, which is also the most in school history and eighth-most in the Patriot League record books.
4. American Wins 11th in a Row, 66-59 Over Colgate
The Eagles extended their winning streak to 11 games -- tying a program-record set in the 2007-08 season -- with a 66-59 victory over Colgate on Jan. 15 at Bender Arena. Alexis Dobbs led American with a career-high 18 points while chipping in five assists, a pair of steals and zero turnovers. Liz Leer and Lisa Strack also scored in double figures with 17 and 11 points, respectively.
5. Eagles Win Hawk Holiday Classic
American defeated Binghamton and Brown to claim the 2011 Hawk Holiday Classic title. Lisa Strack led the way with 18 points in the Eagles' 58-32 over Binghamton while Liz Leer scored a game-high 20 points to help American past Brown, 56-47. Leer was named the tournament's MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Strack and Nicole Ryan.
