"We have a tradition of excellent leadership from our captains and I know that Lisa and Lex will serve our team very well in that capacity," remarked Corkery. "They have earned the respect of their teammates by their actions both on and off the court. Lisa and Lex are both terrific leaders and we expect them to lead from the front of the pack as we prepare for the challenges of next season."
Strack, a rising senior, was one of the Patriot League's most versatile players in the 2010-11 season, where she averaged 11.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. The 5-10 guard was honored as an All-Patriot League Second Team selection after finishing third in the conference in free throw percentage (78.7 percent) and fourth in both assists and steals. The Langhorne, Pa., native started all 31 games for the Eagles in 2010-11 and has made 90 career appearances at AU with 49 starts.
Dobbs, who will be a sophomore next season, made an immediate impact at American in her freshman campaign, starting the final 27 games at point guard. The 5-5 guard was honored on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team after finishing third on the team with 6.7 ppg and seventh-best in the conference with 2.6 assists per contest. Dobbs, who hails from Berea, Ohio, also recorded 1.6 steals per game, sixth-most in the Patriot League.
Strack and Dobbs will lead an Eagles' squad in 2011-12 that is coming off a 22-9 season, including a 10-4 mark in Patriot League play which earned them at least a share of the conference regular season title for the third time in the last four years.
