Women’s Basketball Volunteers at Cherry Blossom Family Bike Rally and Ride

On Sunday, April 10, the American University women's basketball team volunteered at the Cherry Blossom Family Bike Rally and Ride, which supports the American Diabetes Association. The team spent much of the day assisting with registration, setting up arts and crafts booths, greeting riders, and helping with rest stops.

The free annual bike ride coincides with the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. The goal of the rally is to assist with the American Diabetes Association's missions to prevent and cure diabetes as well as helping improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

"We believe that service is a very important component of our program and it was a pleasure to help the American Diabetes Association with their bike rally," remarked Head Coach Matt Corkery. "Learning to ride a bike is one of the great thrills of childhood and it was great to be a part of that experience for kids in the D.C. community.  Hopefully we made a few fans for AU women's basketball in the process."
