The American University women's basketball team will shoot for its 11th Patriot League victory when it hosts Holy Cross on Saturday, February 20 at 2 p.m. at Bender Arena. The Eagles hope to join the 1997, 1998 and 2008 teams as the only squads in program history to reach the 11-win plateau in conference play.

American (17-8, 10-1 Patriot League) has won 11 of its last 12 games since beginning the season with a 6-7 record. In their most recent outing on Wednesday night, the Eagles rolled by Army, 56-42, on the strength of their rebounding and three-point defense. AU outbounded the Black Knights, 43-27, and held a 20-9 advantage on the offensive glass. Additionally, American held Army to 11.2 percent from three-point range (2-18). Michelle Kirk led the Eagles with 15 points while Lisa Strack added 14. Ohemaa Nyanin grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for AU.

Holy Cross (8-18, 4-7 PL) has alternated wins and losses in its past six games, most recently falling 77-69 at Navy on Wednesday. AU controlled the action in the teams' first matchup this season, winning 64-51 on January 24 in Worcester, Mass. Kirk scored a game-high 21 points on an efficient five-of-10 from the field. She added a game-high eight rebounds in 40 minutes of action. Raven Harris set a new career-high with 15 points, while recording three assists and three steals. Additionally, Nyanin and Ebony Edwards added seven rebounds apiece for the Eagles.

Holy Cross leads the all-time series, 14-6, against AU, although the Eagles have been victorious in four of the last five matchups.

With a victory on Saturday, American will record its 11th Patriot League victory, which would match the most conference wins in a season in program history. AU had an 11-3 record in the Patriot League in 2008, and earned identical 11-5 marks in the Colonial Athletic Association in both 1997 and 1998.
