The American University women's basketball team will host Morgan State on Wednesday, December 16 at 7 p.m. at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.
The Eagles will be taking the court for the first time in 10 days following a break for final exams. Last time out on December 6, American (4-4) defeated High Point, 67-46, at Bender Arena. For the seventh time in eight games this season, junior Michelle Kirk led the Eagles in scoring, as she recorded a game-high 22 points in the win. She also chipped in seven rebounds. Kirk currently leads the Patriot League in scoring (20.4 ppg) and is second in the conference in three-point percentage at 40 percent.
Classmate Liz Leer also shined in the contest against High Point, recording 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots for the Eagles. She is averaging 12.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and a Patriot League-leading 1.9 blocked shots per game this season.
A trio of sophomores -- Lisa Strack, Raven Harris and Ebony Edwards -- were productive for the Eagles in the win over High Point. Strack came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points, along with seven rebounds. Harris matched a career-best with six assists in a career-high 37 minutes of action, while Edwards chipped in a season-high eight points for the Eagles.

Morgan State leads the all-time series, 5-2, which includes victories in each of the last two seasons. Last year in Baltimore, Md., Morgan State defeated the Eagles, 57-54, in a closely-contested game. Liz Leer set career-highs for American with 18 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots. Morgan State was led by 19 points from Adams. In their last meeting in Bender Arena, which took place in December 6, 2007, Morgan State came away with an 80-65 victory.
