From September 30 to October 5, American University's Bender
Arena hosted the USA Basketball Women's National Team for a six-day
domestic training camp. Connecticut Head Coach Geno Auriemma led
the squad, which featured a host of former collegiate All-Americans
and current WNBA stars.
One of the many perks of hosting Team USA was the ability for
American University's women's basketball team was able to interact
with the squad in unprecedented fashion. AU's student-athletes were
able to watch its closed-door practices, talk with the players and
get a first-hand look at Team USA.
During the week, AU senior center Ohemaa
Nyanin had the opportunity to interview Sylvia Fowles,
a current star on the WNBA's Chicago Sky. Nyanin asked Fowles about
influential people in her life, what it is like to play on the
National Team and advice for collegiate student-athletes.
