WASHINGTON - American University sophomore Mike Cannon was recently featured with his younger brother, Sam, in an article entitled Cannon Fire in The Enterprise, a southern Maryland daily newspaper. The article details Cannon's success on the wrestling mat as AU's star 165-pounder and how his triumphs and work ethic help to motivate Sam, a senior at Chopticon High School.
``Michael taught me that wrestling and winning aren't just something you do in the winter, during the season," Sam said. ``It is more like a lifestyle, and you have to commit to it year-round if you want to be one of the best."
Cannon recently became AU's sixth wrestling All-American with a sixth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Cannon finished the year with a 30-6 overall record and has a career mark of 59-14 in two years at AU.
