@AU_Wrestling Beats Hofstra, 22-12

WASHINGTON - Four of American University's six wins were major decisions as the Eagles beat Hofstra, 22–12, on Sunday at Bender Arena.

The victory gave the Eagles a sweep of weekend duals against Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association opponents, as AU beat Columbia, 26-10, on Saturday night. American is now 2-3 in duals this season.
  • Michael Sprague and Josh Tera each posted their second major decisions of the weekend. 
  • Sprague led 4-1 and 6-1 after the first two periods against Hofstra's Holden Heller, then went on to win, 10–1.
  • Kizhan Clarke extended a 2–2 tie in the third period by getting a last-second takedown and riding-time point for a 5-2 win that put AU ahead 7-0.
  • After a loss at 165, Conner Allshouse rolled to a 21-8 major decision over Corey Langner. Allshouse had five takedowns in the second period alone, scoring 13 points in the frame.
  • Tanner Harvey won at 184 to put the Eagles ahead 14-3, getting an 8-2 decision.
  • Hofstra won the next three bouts to pull within 14-12, but Terao used a 10-point second period on the way to a 17-5 major decision over Jacob Martin.
  • Jack Mutchnik finished the team victory with an 11-1 win. Leading 2-1 and choosing the bottom position going into the second period, Mutchnik got a quick reversal and near fall to gain a comfortable edge.
