Mutchnik Edged on Second Day at CKLV

LAS VEGASJack Mutchnik of American University was edged, 3-2, by Sam Turner of Wyoming on Saturday in the consolation round of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Mutchnik, a redshirt senior at AU, was the lone Eagle to advance to the second day of the event. Wrestling at 141 pounds, he reached the final 12 and needed the win on Saturday to claim a spot on the podium.

Turner scored an escape in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and was able to hold on for the win.

Still, with a 4-2 record in the tournament, Mutchnik took over the team lead in victories with 11.

AU is off until Dec. 20 when it will compete in the Reno Tournament of Champions.
