ANNAPOLIS – Fresh from a strong showing at the East Stroudsburg Open a week ago, American University will take its wrestling team out U.S. Route 50 to compete on Saturday at the 2018 Navy Classic.

The Eagles will be one of 16 teams in the event on Saturday. Along with AU, the field includes Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association opponents Brown, Bucknell and the host Midshipmen.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Wesley Brown Field House at the Academy. Finals are slated for 5 p.m.

Gage Curry (125), Michael Sprague (149) and Niko Camacho (285) each won their brackets last Saturday at the East Stroudsburg Open. Camacho, a redshirt freshman, went 5-0 to roll through his weight class.

• A dozen Eagles earned places last weekend. Kizhan Clarke (149) and Prince Hyeamang (197) earned seconds, with Jack Mutchnik (141) and Abraham Correa-Medina (184) finishing third. Clarke's only loss came to Sprague in the 149-pound final.

• Anthony Wokasch went 5-1 to finish fifth at 165, but won three of his bouts by falls.

• Freshman Patrick Ryan had a strong collegiate debut, going 5-1 at 141 pounds to finish fifth.

Daniel Kidd, Blake Barrick and Sage Mosco also placed at East Stroudsburg.
