WASHINGTON – The American University wrestling team closes out the 2015-16 regular season with a pair of non-conference duals this weekend, beginning on Friday, when it hosts 21st-ranked Ohio at 7 p.m.

The Eagles wrap up the weekend's competition on Sunday, when they visit George Mason for a 2 p.m. dual.

Prior to Friday night's match against Ohio, American will honor the four members of its senior class in a special ceremony.

American enters this weekend's duals with a 5-8 overall record and 1-6 record in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association. The Eagles split a pair of duals last weekend, coming up short in a 24-16 loss to EIWA foe Bucknell, before escaping with a 19-18 win over Old Dominion.

Seniors David Terao (125) and John Boyle (157) went 2-0 on the weekend, along with sophomore Jeric Kasunic (197), who was tabbed the AU GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance.

The Eagles are led by Terao and Boyle, who are each ranked 14th in their respective weight classes by InterMat. Terao owns a 20-3 overall record on the season, while Boyle leads the team in total victories with a 24-6 overall record.

Ohio, ranked 21st in the latest USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll, currently owns a 12-3 overall record and 5-3 mark in the MAC. The Bobcats, who have won seven straight duals, defeated Cleveland State (31-11) and Gardner-Webb (22-13) last weekend.

The Bobcats have three wrestlers who are currently ranked by InterMat, led by senior Cody Walters, who is ranked ninth at 174 pounds. Freshman Cameron Kelly is rated 14th at 133 pounds, while senior Phil Wellington is ranked 16th at 197 pounds.

George Mason, which hosts Lock Haven and VMI on Thursday evening, currently hold a 6-12 overall record on the season and a 2-3 ledger in the Eastern Wrestling League. The Patriots are coming off a trio of losses last weekend, falling to Franklin & Marshall (21-17), Bucknell (32-12) and Maryland (31-9).

Redshirt senior Greg Flournoy leads the Patriots with a 26-7 record at 157 pounds, while redshirt freshman heavyweight Matthew Voss owns a 21-13 record on the season.
