WASHINGTON – The American University wrestling team is back in action this weekend, Feb. 5-6, when it hits the road for a pair of Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association duals. The Eagles face Binghamton Friday at 7 p.m., before visiting sixth-ranked Lehigh on Saturday at 3 p.m.

American enters this weekend's duals with a 4-5 overall record and 1-3 record in the EIWA. The Eagles dropped a pair of duals last weekend, falling to Duke, 23-13, and EIWA foe Columbia, 28-9.

Senior David Terao, ranked eighth in the nation at 125 pounds, earned a pair of victories to lead American last weekend. Redshirt junior Esteban Gomez-Rivera (133), senior John Boyle (157) and redshirt senior Mitchell Wightman (165) added wins against the Blue Devils, while redshirt senior Tyler Scotton (141) picked up a decision versus the Lions.

For the season, Terao leads the Eagles with a 17-2 overall record and 8-0 mark in dual competition. Meanwhile, Boyle, who is ranked 13th at 157 pounds, leads the team in total victories with a 20-6 overall record.

Binghamton enters Friday's dual with a 9-5 overall record and 5-3 mark in the EIWA. The Bearcats won a pair of duals last weekend, defeating Ithaca, 36-6, and Sacred Heart, 38-4.

Leading Binghamton, which has won four of its last five duals, is sophomore Steve Schneider, who is ranked 17th at 184 pounds with a 17-5 overall record. Meanwhile, classmate Vincent DePrez has posted a team-high 19 victories on the season.

Lehigh is ranked sixth in the latest NWCA/USA Today Coaches' Poll, carrying an 11-1 overall record and 6-0 EIWA ledger into this weekend's match. The Mountain Hawks were last in action on Jan. 23, earning a 25-13 win over Cornell.

Lehigh has seven wrestlers who are currently ranked by InterMat, led by senior Nathaniel Brown, who is rated third at 184 pounds, and junior Mitch Minotti, who is ranked 10th at 157 pounds.

Sophomore Darian Cruz (125) and senior Max Wessell (HWT) are rated 14th at their respective weight classes, freshman Ryan Preisch is ranked 16th at 165, senior John Bolich is ranked 17th at 197 pounds and junior Randy Cruz is rated 18th at 141 pounds.
