WASHINGTON – The American University wrestling team hosts a pair of Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) duals this weekend, facing Navy on Saturday at 7 p.m., before taking on Drexel Sunday at noon.

The Eagles enter the weekend with a 4-1 overall dual record and 1-0 mark in the EIWA after their performance at the Pitt Duals last weekend. American picked up wins over conference foe Brown (21-13) and Bloomsburg (36-9), while dropping a 28-6 decision to third-ranked NC State.

Senior captain David Terao led American with a 3-0 record on the weekend at 125 pounds, while Esteban Gomez-Rivera (133), Tyler Scotton (141), John Boyle (157), Jason Grimes (174), Jeric Kasunic (197) and Jake Scanlan (HWT) each posted 2-1 marks.

The Eagles have a pair of wrestlers who are listed in the latest InterMat rankings. Terao is currently rated eighth at 125 pounds with a 13-2 overall record, while fellow captain Boyle is ranked 10th at 157 pounds with a 17-5 ledger on the season.

Navy, which hosts Drexel on Friday evening, enters the weekend with a 5-1 overall record and 1-1 mark in EIWA action. The Midshipmen are coming off a 34-3 loss to 10th-ranked conference rival Lehigh last week.

A pair of Navy wrestlers are currently ranked by InterMat. Senior Mathew Miller, who owns an 18-6 overall record, is rated 15th at 184 pounds, while sophomore Jadaen Bernstein is ranked 18th at 174 pounds with a 22-8 mark.

Meanwhile, Drexel currently owns a 3-5 overall record and 0-1 ledger in the EIWA. The Dragons last competed at the Southern Scuffle Jan. 1-2, led by redshirt junior Matthew Cimato with a fourth-place finish at 149 pounds.

Cimato leads Drexel with a 21-4 overall record and 8-0 mark in dual competition and is rated 13th in the latest InterMat rankings.
