AU Wrestlers Head to Wolfpack Open

WASHINGTON – The American University wrestling team travels to Raleigh, N.C., this Sunday, Nov. 22, for the Wolfpack Open, hosted by NC State. 

The Eagles are coming off a 27-11 dual victory over Campbell in their season opener last weekend. American won seven of 10 bouts, including a fall by senior captain John Boyle to start things off at 157 pounds.

Redshirt junior Esteban Gomez-Rivera picked up the biggest win of the match against the Camels, knocking off 17th-ranked Nathan Kraisser with a 5-1 decision at 133 pounds. The Eagles picked up major decisions by David Terao (125), Michael Dahlstrom (149) and Jeric Kasunic (197), while Tyler Scotton (141) and Jason Grimes (174) each scored decisions.

A pair of AU wrestlers enter this weekend's competition in the national rankings. Terao is rated eighth by InterMat, while Boyle is ranked 18th.
