Borshoff Qualifies for World Team Trials

Senior wrestler Kyle Borshoff qualified for the 2010 Freestyle World Team Trials on May 2, winning the Northeast Senior Freestyle Regionals held in Brockport, N.Y. Borshoff defeated Justin Pearch in the finals of the 66 kg weight class, 0-1, 3-1, 1-0, capping off a perfect 4-0 weekend. He is the first wrestler in program history to qualify for the World Team Trials.

The World Team Trials will be held this year in Council Bluffs, Iowa, June 11-12. The top three placewinners from each weight class at the trials will qualify for the World Team with the first-place finisher earning the starting position at that weight.

Borshoff completed his collegiate wrestling career this March at the 2010 NCAA Championships where he earned All-America status with an eighth-place finish at 149 lbs. He finished his career as a two-time All-American, a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier, a four-time EIWA placewinner and ranks fifth all-time at American with 102 wins. Borshoff is scheduled to graduate this weekend from the Kogod School of Business with his bachelors degree in business administration.
