WASHINGTON - American University senior goalkeeper Chris Sedlak has been named the Brine Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, PL officials announced Monday. This is Sedlak's first-ever Patriot League weekly award.
Sedlak on Sunday made six saves in a double-overtime tie with Colgate at Reeves Field. The clean slate was his sixth shutout of the season, a single-season career-high, and the 16th of his four-year career.
Sedlak has not allowed a goal in three of the Eagles' last five games, including two double-overtime games, a stretch of 400 minutes without allowing a goal. Furthermore, the Valrico, Fla., native has not allowed a goal in four of six Patriot League matches.
Sedlak and the rest of the Eagles play a pivotal final regular season game this Saturday, Nov. 10, when AU heads to Lewisburg, Pa., for a 4 p.m. matchup with Bucknell. American must win or tie to earn a berth into the four-team Patriot League Tournament, or have Lafayette lose at Holy Cross at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The PL Tournament will be hosted on Nov. 16 & 18 at a site to be determined between Holy Cross and Colgate.
