WASHINGTON - Freshman forward Daniel Shannon has been named the Brine Patriot League Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14, 2007, league officials announced Monday.

Shannon scored the game-winning goal in the 71st minute in a 1-0 win over Navy on Saturday. The goal was his team-leading third of the season and his third game-winning tally. Shannon leads AU with three goals, two assists and eight points. He is the top freshman in the PL in goals and points, as well. Shannon's goal on Saturday helped AU remain unbeaten in league play at 2-0-1. The Eagles are in a three-way tie with Bucknell and Colgate for the league lead with seven points.

This is Shannon's second PL weekly award this season, after being named the league's Offensive Player of the Week on October 1.
