WASHINGTON - Freshman goalkeeper Matt Makowski was named the Patriot League BRINE Rookie of the Week in men's soccer, the league announced on Tuesday.

Makowski led the Eagles defense to 185 scoreless minutes to open the season before George Mason tallied in overtime on Sunday. Makowski earned a 5-0 shutout win over Howard in his college debut on Friday. Hemade five saves in the pair of games and posted a shutout and .833 save percentage in his first collegiate action.

AU returns to the pitch on Friday, when they travel to Durham, N.C. to play N.C. State at 5 p.m. and then will take on tournament host Duke at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
