Kris Hazard begins his second season as an assistant men's soccer coach at American University.
Hazard came to AU from Tri-State University, where he coached for two seasons. Prior to TSU, he served as the associate head coach at Wittenberg Univeristy in 2005 and as an assistant coach the two previous seasons. Hazard recently served as head coach of the Citadel U-16 boy's team and the Ohio F.C. U-18 to U-13 boy's teams. He holds a National "A" Coaching License.
"Kris brings experience as a collegiate head coach and has an eye for identifying talent," said Head Coach Todd West at the time of Hazard's hiring. "His recruiting contacts open doors previously unavailable to the AU program and those elements will have a great impact in our recruiting process. He has already proven valuable on the training ground. He has a calm about him when working with our players that comes from the confidence he has gained through his experiences. Kris will be involved in all facets of our program and we're thrilled to have his insights as we strive to win the Patriot League Championship and win in the NCAA tournament."
Hazard graduated from Wittenberg with a Bachelor of Arts in speech/English. While at Wittenberg, Hazard was a four-year member of the soccer team and served as team captain. In his senior season, he was a North Coast Athletic Conference Second-Team All-Conference selections and the Wittenberg Team MVP.
