Ben Mortimer was appointed an assistant coach on the American University men’s soccer staff by head coach Todd West in July of 2013.

Mortimer, the DC Stoddert Technical Director, comes to AU with a plethora of soccer experience.

He holds a USSF “A” License, USSF Goalkeeping License as well as NSCAA Premier, Goalkeeping and Director of Coaching Diplomas.

Mortimer was a four-year letterwinner at George Washington, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor of arts in English, making Dean’s List all four years. He was a two-time Atlantic 10 champion, helping the Colonials to conference titles in 2002 and 2004. Mortimer was also an NSCAA South Atlantic Region Selection, First-team all-conference selection and was named to the A-10 All-Championship Team and the DC College Cup All-Tournament Team as a senior.

Prior to his time at GW, he was a member of the England Schools Football Association U18 team.

Mortimer currently resides in Washington, D.C.
