CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Junior John Mino and sophomore Oscar McConnell claimed two of the five Patriot League men's soccer weekly awards. Mino was picked as the PL Goalkeeper of the Week while McConnell took home the PL Defensive Player of the Week Award.
In a must-win game, Mino completed his first clean sheet of the season and made seven saves to upset then-PL leader Lehigh, 1-0, on the road. Mino was pushed late in the contest with five shots in the final minute of regulation.
On the defensive side, McConnell not only aided Mino but picked up the lone goal in the win for American. The sophomore has scored in back-to-back league games and has two goals on the season.
American will host a pair of critical games this week with tournament implications on the line. The Eagles welcome PL leader Loyola on Wednesday and Lafayette on Saturday.
