WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team will take a short trip down Foxhall Road to face local rival George Washington on Monday at 4 p.m.
- Local Derby — American is 30-12-2 all-time against George Washington who plays its home games on the Mount Vernon Campus on Foxhall Road. American is riding a five-game winning streak over the Colonials. AU and GW met annually from 1955 until 1995. The series picked up again in 2001 with the Eagles and Colonials meeting in the 2002 NCAA Tournament.
- Familiar Faces — American will be facing a familiar face in former Eagle Max Holdsworth, who transferred to GW this season. Former AU volunteer assistant coach Manbi Nyepon is on the coaching staff at GW. Current AU assistant coach Ben Mortimer is a graduate of GW in the Class of 2006.
- Kuykenstrong DC College Cup — American secured its third Kuykenstrong DC College Cup in five years, defeating George Mason, 2-1 on Friday evening at Reeves Field. Jerry Zounatcha and Fabio Massaro scored for American in the win.
- GW Scout — Oscar Haynes Brown scored three goals in the season-opener for the Colonials in a 3-2 win over Stony Brook on Friday.
