@AU_MSoccer Rookies Lead Charge in Road Win at Lafayette

Nicholas Dimitrijevic leads the Eagles at Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. — American University men's soccer rookies Nicholas Dimitrijevic and Andreas Djurhuus scored to lead the Eagles over Lafayette, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, American stays alive for a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with one game remaining. American (4-11-1, 3-5-0 PL) finished the contest outshot 13-8 but controlled play with a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

Dimitrijevic put American up 1-0 in the third minute off a free kick from Oscar McConnell. After the kick, the ball was left loose and muffed before trickling into the right side of goal.

The Leopards tied the game seconds into the start of the second half. Evan Vare found the back of the net after a give and go by Ryan Goncalves.

The eager Eagles broke the tie in the 69th minute on Djurhuus' goal from Matt Gillis

American will host Army West Point next Saturday at 2 p.m.
