WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team hits the road this weekend for its furthest trip north to face Holy Cross on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off a split last week, defeating Navy, 3-2, in overtime before falling to Colgate, 2-0. American sits a game out of the final spot in the Patriot League tournament with five games remaining. The Eagles will play two of its final five at Reeves Field culminating with the regular season finale against Army on Nov. 4.
Nicholas Dimitrijevic earned this week's Patriot League Rookie of the Week after he scored three goals in the overtime win against Navy. Dimitrijevic led the Eagles with seven shots over the two games and has the team lead in goals. Tim Neumann has stepped up as of late. He assisted on two of Dimitrijevic's goals and leads the team in points with eight and assists with four.
In goal, John Mino has started the previous 10 games and has posted a 2.15 goals against average with 43 saves.
Holy Cross sits tied for third in league standings with a 2-1-1 record. The Crusaders dropped a 2-0 midweek contest to Rhode Island on Tuesday. Holy Cross has won two of its last three PL games against Bucknell (2-1) and Lafayette (3-0).
Arno Rupp paces the Crusaders with four goals and eight points. Owen Azrak is second with two goals. Henry Stutz has posted a 1.52 goals against average with a .661 save percentage.
American returns to Reeves Field next weekend, Oct. 21 for its Alumni Day contests against Lehigh at 2 p.m.
