WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team fell to Colgate 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League play.
American (2-9-1, 1-3-0 PL) was outshot, 14-5 and struggled to maintain its offensive attack around a physical Colgate defense. The Eagles had three opportunities on Raiders keeper Jacob Harris but were held off the scoresheet. AU had a chance in the 68th minute with a penalty kick taken by Tim Neumann, but Harris read the angle to make the save.
Colgate scored early in the contest off a corner kick that volleyed off two heads into goal. Jared Stroud served the kick to the far post that was redirected by Christian Clark over to Oliver Harris to give Colgate the 1-0 lead. The Raiders added their second in the 65th minute off a through ball from Uyi Omorogbe to Kentaro Morrison inside the box.
American hits the road and visits Holy Cross next weekend before a return to Reeves Field on Oct. 21 against Lehigh.
