WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team hosts Patriot League foe Colgate at Reeves Field on Saturday at 2 p.m.
American is coming off a dramatic 3-2 overtime win over Navy on Wednesday. Freshman Nick Dimitrijevic scored his first collegiate hat trick to lead the Eagles to their first Patriot League and home win of the season.
The Eagles dominated play for a majority of the contest with Dimitrijevic leading the squad with six of the teams 14 shots on goal.
He leads the team in goals with three and is second behind Tim Neumann in points, who has eight after a pair of assists in the win.
Colgate is winless in its last six after stringing three straight wins in early non-league play. The Raiders took both games at the Central New York Classic, defeating Northwestern (2-0) and Princeton (1-0). In their next match, the Raiders defeated common foe Oregon State, 1-0.
American also defeated the Beavers by the same score earlier in September at the Gonzaga Tournament.
Jared Stroud and Uyi Omrogbe lead the Raiders in points with seven each. Omrogbe has the team edge in goals with three while Stroud has five assists. Peter Tappenden is the lone keeper on the field for the Raiders. He has posted a 1.60 goals against average in 11 starts.
