LEWISBURG, Pa. — Tim Neumann scored on a penalty kick with a minute remaining in the contest, but his goal was not enough as Bucknell defeated the American University men's soccer team, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League play.
The Bison outshot American (1-8-1, 0-2-0 PL), 14-11, and 5-2 on corner kicks.
Matt Thorsheim scored in the eighth minute for Bucknell off a pass from Patrick Mahoney. Nearly 20 minutes later, Bernie Wright blasted a shot from 28 yards out after receiving a pass from Nick king.
AU keeper John Mino made two saves and got defensive help from his back line with a defensive save on a header by Quinn Bredin in the 49th minute.
American will return back home to Reeves Field to take on Navy this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
