American travels to play Oregon State and Gonzaga

WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team travels west this weekend to take on Oregon State and Gonzaga as part of the Gonzaga Tournament in Spokane, Washington.

American is looking for its first win of the season after falling to local foes Georgetown and George Washington.

Oregon State is 1-1 after a season-opening loss to Fairfield before bouncing back to knock off No. 17 UNLV, 1-0, in overtime on Monday. Timmy Mueller leads the Beavers with three points (1g, 1a) and Jordan Jones scored the overtime winner against the Running Rebels. Ryan Vincent played in goal in both games in goal for OSU and posts a 1.00 goals against average. 

Gonzaga enters the tournament 1-0 after Hurricane Harvey canceled its season-opening tournament at Houston Baptist. The Zags won a double-overtime contest at Bradley, 2-1. Austin Giftopoulos scored the game-winner in the 107th minute. Christopher Michaelson scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute.
