WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team fell to local rival Georgetown, 2-0, on Friday afternoon in front of a packed Reeves Field.
The Hoyas scored a pair of goals in the first half and held the Eagles in the middle third of the field in the final 45 minutes.
Ethan Lockner scored in the 12th minute after he beat AU keeper Shaun Quinn to the left side. Near the end of the half, the Hoyas added their second goal of the half when Achara took a pass from Derek Dodson and went around Quinn who over-committed.
Georgetown held a 12-2 advantage in shots at the half and finished the game with a 14-6 edge.
Quinn made three saves in the first half and was replaced by John Mino who recorded one save in the second half. Hoya keeper JT Marcinkowski finished with three stops.
American will travel to George Mason for a night contest on Sunday.
