The Patriot League selected American University junior Dylan Hobert as the Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday. Hobert was also honored as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.
It is the second time in three weeks that Hobert has earned the distinction for the Patriot League. It is also his first-ever GEICO recognition.
Hobert continues to be a backbone for AU men's soccer and its rise to No. 19 in the national rankings. The junior picked up two wins at the Captiol Cup, improving to 5-1-0 this year. He made several clutch saves down the stretch against Milwaukee on Sunday in a 3-0 win to preserve his third shutout of the year.
Hobert also defeated Hartwick, 3-1, and now boasts a 0.49 goals against average, .842 save percentage and has recorded 16 total saves on the season.
Two other Eagles were selected to the honorable-mention list. Jordan Manley, a senior co-captain and starting right back, helped hold Hartwick to four shots on goal and limited Milwaukee to only five as American has won its last four games. Sophomore forward Dale Ludwig scored game-winning goals against both Hartwick and Milwaukee as the Eagles swept a pair of games in the Capitol Cup.
AU has a lone game on the docket this week as it heads to Philadelphia on Thursday night to take on Ivy League foe Penn at 7 p.m.
