midfielder Daniel
Shannon has been named to Soccer America Men's Team of
the Week, the publication announced. Shannon was one of 12 Division
I men's soccer student-athletes selected to the team.
Shannon scored two goals against No. 19 George Mason to lead the
Eagles to a 2-1 victory, securing the D.C. College Cup title.
Shannon got American on the board in the 23rd minute with a
long-range shot from 30 yards into the left corner of the net. The
Eagles kept the momentum going throughout the half, and in the 83rd
minute, Shannon added his second goal of the match off a rebound.

For the Eagles, the D.C. College Cup championship was their
fifth in the nine-year history of the tournament. After the success
this weekend, American is now ranked No. 23 in the country by
Soccer America.
American will open the home slate of its schedule on Friday,
September 11 at 3 p.m. against Princeton. The match can be watched
