American Finishes 12th at Pirate Fall Intercollegiate

GREENEVILLE, N.C. - Sophomore Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./ Ridgewood) came back from an opening round of 76 to shoot back-to-back scores of 71. The two low rounds helped him to finish in a tie for 12th at the Pirate Fall Intercollegiate.
Shagin finished with a 218 for the three rounds, nine shots better than AU senior Chris Schieffer (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum), who shot a 227. Schieffer was very consistent with rounds of 76,76 and 75. Schieffer finished in a tie for 48th.
Freshmen Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./ Old Tappan) and Kevin Horan (Marina Del Ray, Calif./ Loyola) finished tied for 58th and tied for 73rd respectively. Freshman Alex Wenzel came in 82nd after posting a three-round 239 (74, 82, 83). Lacey's top round was the first when he shot a 74. He followed that effort up with a 77 and a 78. Horan posted a 78 and an 82 before finding his stroke and shooting a 74 on the final round.
East Carolina senior golfer Adam Howell captured the medallist honors with a six-under 210. The team award went to Charleston Southern, which collectively shot an 865, which was plus-one for the tournament. Next closest schools were Elon and East Carolina, which both posted team totals of 873.
The Eagles will next be in action on Oct. 24-25 when they compete in the Old Dominion Seascape.
