American Finishes 8th at Cornell Invitational

Final Stats

ITHACA, N.Y. - Sophomore Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood) finished in a tie for 19th after shooting rounds of 76, 72 and 77 at the Cornell Invitational. American finished eighth out of 16 schools and ahead of the other three Patriot League schools at the tournament.

Freshman Kevin Horan (Marina Del Rey, Calif. / Loyola) finished second on the team and tied for 23rd overall after he posted scores of 71, 76 and 79. Senior Phil Kief finished in a tie for 34th after he finished with a 230 (76, 75 & 79).

Freshmen Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J. / Old Tappan) and Howie Smith (Ridgewood, N. J. / Ridgewood) finished tied for 52nd and 56th respectively. Lacey had a three-round total of 235 while Smith was one shot behind at 236.

Josh Krumholz of Rider was the medalist for the tourney with an overall score of 208. He had scores of 67, 68 and 73. Rider won team honors with a score of 879.

Lehigh finished in a tie for 10th with a team score of 918, which was five shots behind the Eagles. Other Patriot League schools competing were Lafayette (12th - 920) and Colgate (13th - 925).

American will be off for nearly three weeks. They will next compete at the Pirate Fall Intercollegiate which will begin on October 18.
