American Grabs Third Place at Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. - American University's men's golf team took home third place in the Patriot League Golf Championship. The team posted a final score of 878.
The Eagles were led by freshman Kevin Horan (Marina Del Ray, Calif./Loyola) who finished four shots of the lead after posting rounds of 75, 68 and 70 for a three-round total of 213. Horan had the lowest score of any freshman at the event, and therefore earned Rookie of the Year accolades. His final round of 70 was the best score of the championship's final 18.
Sophomore Adam Kolloff (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) finished sixth after rounds of 70, 76 and 72 for a final score of 218. Second year golfer Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) finished in a tie for 14th after posting a 225 (80-67-78). His 67 in the second round was the best outing of the year by any AU golfer.
Alex Wenzel (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) scored a 226 (74-75-77) and finished tied for 16th. Fellow freshmen Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan) finished 39th and 42nd respectively. Smith shot a 239 after opening with an 86 (86-79-74) while Lacey shot a 242 (81-81-80).
Army won the team title while Bucknell's Charles Waddell was the individual champ after shooting a 209 for the three rounds.
