Men's Golf Captures Lafayette Invitational Title

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American University's men's golf team scored a 595 to win the 2005 Lafayette Invitational by six strokes over second placed St. Bonaventure.
The Eagles were paced by freshman Kevin Horan (Marina Del Ray, Calif./Loyola) who hit 72 on both days (+3) for a two round score of 144. Alex Wenzel (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) scored a 146 (71-75), while sophomore Adam Kolloff (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) hit a 150 (77-73) for third place on the team. Second year golfer Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) hit a 156 (77-79) for the Eagles. Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan)also shot a 165 (87-78) on the weekend.
The Eagles were the only team to score under 300 both days. Niagara University and Siena College tied for third place with a score of 606, while Robert Morris came in fifth (611) and Delaware finished sixth (612). Defending Champion Binghamton University finished in seventh place.
American will be back in action on Monday, April 11, when they travel to Bethany Beach, Del. to compete in the Bethany Beach Invitational.
