American Finishes 10th at Bradford Creek Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - American University sophomore Adam Kolloff (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy), sophomore Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and freshman Alex Wenzel (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) all finished with a final score of 145 in the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate. The Eagles finished 10th (586) out of the 18 teams that competed.
Wenzel got off to the fastest start on his way to 145. He fired a 70 for the first 18 holes before finishing up with a 75. Shagin was close behind with a 71 on the first day and a 74 on the second day. Kolloff carded rounds of 73 and 72. The 145 was a +1 for the tournament.
Senior Phil Kief (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood), who has battled injuries all spring, made his first appearance this season and finished tied for 76th after shooting rounds of 74 and 81.
Freshman Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) finished tied for 78th (83-76=156) while freshman Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan) was four shots in back of Smith at 160 (83-77).
Robin Smith of East Carolina won the individual title after he fired a final round of 68 to finish seven-under par (137). East Carolina won the tournament after posting a team score of 568 (285-283). The tournament took place at the par-72, 7,120-yard Bradford Creek Golf Course. Due to heavy rains earlier in the week the tournament was reduced to just 36 holes.
American will next play at the Diablo Grande Golf Resort in an event hosted by Drake University. First round action will begin on March 27.
