American Finishes 15th at Birkdale Collegiate Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - American University sophomore Adam Kolloff (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) finished in a tie for 53rd after firing rounds of 76, 85 and 74 for a three-round total of 235 at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic. The Eagles finished 15th with a team score of 986.
Sophomore Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) finished one shot in back of Kolloff with a final score of 236. Shagin had rounds of 79, 77 and 80 and finished tied for 58th overall. Freshman Alex Wenzel (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) finished tied for 77th with a 252. Yesterday he fired an 86, but followed today with an 84 and then 82 in his final round.
Freshman Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan) carded a 264 (85-87-92) for 83rd while fellow freshman Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) finished 84th (87-90-91) after posting a three-round total of 268.
Charlotte shot a team score of 852 (291-283-278) to capture the title by 24 shots. The University of Virginia was second at 876.
Andrew DiBitetto of Charlotte captured the individual title after shooting a 207.
American will next play at the East Carolina University Spring Invitational (Bradford Creek Golf Club - Greenville, N.C.). First round action will begin on March 18.
