American Finishes 11th at Emerald Coast Collegiate

PENSACOLA, Fla. - American University sophomore Adam Kolloff (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) shot rounds of 73, 70 and 75 to finish with a two-day total of 218, which placed him in a tie for 12th at the Emerald Coast Collegiate. As a team the Eagles finished 11th with a team score of 916.
Freshman Alex Wenzel (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) finished 29th with a 224 for the Eagles after posting rounds of 74, 73 and 77. Sophomore Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) came in 47th (230 final score) after rounds of 76, 75 and 79.
Freshman Howard Smith (Las Vegas, NV/The Meadows School) and fellow freshman Billy Lacey (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan) finished 70th and 71st respectively. Smith put together rounds of 84, 81 and 83. Lacey struggled early with rounds of 85 and 86, but put together a 79 in the final round of the event.
Troy University shot a score of 854 (283, 276 and 295) to capture the title while the University of West Florida finished second with a team score of 281. UWF had won the title seven straight times heading into this year's event.
Steve Sims of Troy University won the individual title after winning a playoff with Matthew Galloway of West Florida. Both had finished regulation at 210, but Sims won a two hole playoff.
American will next play at the Birkdale Collegiate Golf Classic (Birkdale Golf Club - Charlotte, N.C.) with the first round on March 12.
