Carr Named PL Anaconda Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - American University men's basketball's Garrison Carr has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. Carr averaged 27.0 ppg last week as he led AU to a perfect 3-0 record.
On Monday against St. Francis, Carr scored 28 points, including 19 in the second half, to lead the Eagles to a 67-46 victory. Carr shot 10-of-18 from the floor against the Red Flash and was 5-of-12 from three and 3-of-3 from the line. At Howard on Wednesday, Carr was again the high scorer as he poured in 29 points in AU's 65-63 victory on 11-of-13 shooting from the floor and 7-of-13 shooting from three. He scored 16 of his points in the second half as American fought back from a seven-point halftime deficit for the win. Carr set a new career-high with his 11 made field goals and tied his previous career-high of seven made three-pointers. At Jacksonville on Saturday, Carr scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting and was 6-of-9 from three.
For the week, Carr averaged 27.0 ppg while shooting 55.8 percent (29-of-52) from the field and 52.9 percent (18-of-34) from three. This award is Carr's first of the season and fourth of his career.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow, Nov. 25, at Stony Brook. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
