Mercer Named Preseason Mid-Major All-American

CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team

WASHINGTON - Senior guard Derrick Mercer has been named to the 2008-09 CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team, the website announced Tuesday.

Mercer was the only Patriot League player named to the team. Last season, he averaged 12.4 ppg and 4.03 apg and was named the PL MVP by CollegeInsider.com. Mercer was also selected to the Preseason All-PL Team last month.

The CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team is comprised of 25 student-athletes. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the team's selection process.

American will open its 2008-09 schedule on Friday, Nov. 14, at Oklahoma at 7 p.m. The Eagles home opener will take place on Monday, Nov. 17, against St. Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m. Tickets to the game are available online by clicking here.
