WASHINGTON - American University junior guard Andre Ingram (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 26, 2006, PL officials revealed Tuesday.
Ingram earned the award after a week in which he led AU to two wins, helping the Eagles capture the fourth seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament, by averaging 19.0 points per game. Ingram was at his best against Lafayette on Saturday, tallying a season-high 26 points, including a season-high seven three-pointers. The seven triples tied for the fourth-most single-game total in school history and was one short of his career-high. Ingram added a team-high 12 points in a 65-48 home win over Navy earlier in the week.
This is Ingram's fourth career PL Player of the Week award. The Richmond, Va., native hit 52 percent (13-of-25) of his field goals and 53.3 percent (eight-of-15) of his three-points attempts on the week. Ingram added 4.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game.
After the week, Ingram was ranked 34th all-time in PL history in scoring (1,182 points) and 12th in career three-point field goals (185). This is Ingram's second POW award this season, after winning the award for the week ending Dec. 19, 2005.
Ingram leads fourth-seeded AU into the quarterfinals against fifth-seeded Lafayette on Friday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m. The game will be played on the campus of Bucknell University in Sojka Pavilion. For tickets, please call (202) 885-TIXX.
