ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Sam Iorio finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds but the American men's basketball team fell 70-64 to Navy on Friday evening at Alumni Hall.
Sa'eed Nelson led the team with 18 points and eight assists and Larry Motuzis had 13 points and a pair of steals in 38 minutes.
American (3-11, 0-3 PL) battled back throughout the contest and cut the deficit to within a single-possession late before the Midshipmen got to the line.
Navy (11-5, 2-1 PL) went on an 8-0 run and took an 11-point lead with two minutes left in the contest. However, the Eagles scored nine of the next 10 points to make it 67-64 with 24 seconds left.
Bryce Dulin had a game-high 23 points and five rebounds for the Midshipmen. Evan Weick scored 13 points and Hasan Abdullah added 11 points, six assists and two steals for Navy.
American will face Army West Point at Bender Arena on Monday evening.
